The challenge
Coyotes have become a year-round presence across Fullerton and North Orange County, moving freely between open space, campuses, and residential areas. On a high-profile Fullerton university campus property, coyotes were getting onto the grounds — a serious safety and liability concern for a location that hosts staff, guests, and events. The client needed a humane, permanent solution that would keep coyotes out without harming wildlife.
Why coyotes are hard to keep out
Standard fencing doesn’t stop a coyote. They can jump a 5–6 foot fence, climb many fence types, and — just as often — dig underneath. Any effective coyote barrier has to defeat all three.

Our solution: engineered coyote exclusion fencing
- Adequate height to stop coyotes from jumping the line.
- Anti-climb / roll-bar top so a coyote can’t get a grip and pull itself over.
- Dig barrier at the base (buried apron / L-footer) to defeat their favorite trick — digging underneath.
- A clean, property-appropriate finish that secured the grounds without detracting from the setting.
Every part of the build was designed around real coyote behavior — jump, climb, and dig — so it holds where ordinary fencing doesn’t.
The result
The property is now secured against coyotes, humanely and permanently. Because exclusion is a physical, permanent barrier, it keeps working with no ongoing trapping required.
